How is the top provider determined? We rank providers by the estimated amount the recipient receives after the displayed fee and exchange rate.

What could make the difference?

Compare the estimated recipient amounts above to see how much the displayed results differ.

The difference comes from the combination of the displayed exchange rate and transfer fee. A provider may charge a low or no visible fee while including part of the cost in a less favourable exchange rate. That is why a lower fee does not always mean that more money reaches your recipient.

Before sending, confirm the final amount, receiving method and delivery time directly with the provider.

How can your recipient receive money in India?

Depending on the provider, money may be sent to an Indian bank account, through a UPI ID or for cash pickup. Each option requires different recipient details and may have different fees, exchange rates and delivery times.

Available receiving methods vary by provider and can change. Confirm that the selected provider supports the option your recipient needs before completing the transfer.

Bank account transfer

A bank transfer sends the money directly to the recipient’s Indian bank account.

The sender will commonly need:

  • The recipient’s full name as registered with the bank
  • Bank account number
  • IFSC code
  • Bank name
  • Purpose of the transfer, if requested

The IFSC code identifies the recipient’s bank branch and is commonly required for transfers to Indian bank accounts. The recipient can usually find it in their banking app, bank statement, cheque book or on their bank’s website.

This option can be suitable when the recipient wants the money deposited directly into their account and can provide the required banking details.

UPI

UPI allows the sender to use the recipient’s UPI ID, also known as a Virtual Payment Address or VPA, instead of entering the full bank account number and IFSC code.

The money is credited to the Indian bank account connected to the recipient’s UPI ID. UPI is therefore not a separate cash wallet but another way of directing money to an eligible bank account.

A UPI transfer can be practical when:

  • The recipient has a valid and active UPI ID
  • The selected provider supports UPI transfers from the UAE
  • The sender does not have the recipient’s full bank account details

Do not assume that every provider offering bank deposits also supports UPI. Bank account and UPI transfers may appear as separate receiving options.

Cash pickup

Cash pickup allows the recipient to collect the transfer from a participating location in India instead of receiving it in a bank account.

The recipient may need:

  • A valid government-issued photo ID
  • The transfer or reference number
  • The sender’s name and transfer details
  • Any additional information required by the provider or pickup location

Cash pickup can be useful when the recipient needs physical cash or cannot receive the transfer through an eligible bank account or UPI ID. The recipient must be able to visit a supported location during its opening hours.

Bank account, UPI or cash pickup: which should you choose?

The most suitable option depends mainly on how the recipient wants to access the money.

Choose a bank account transfer when:

  • The recipient wants the money deposited directly into their account
  • You have the correct account number and IFSC code
  • The recipient does not need to collect physical cash

Consider UPI when:

  • The recipient has a valid UPI ID
  • The provider supports UPI transfers from the UAE
  • You want to send without entering full bank account details

Consider cash pickup when:

  • The recipient needs physical cash
  • A suitable bank account or UPI ID is unavailable
  • The recipient can visit a supported location with the required identification

No receiving method is automatically cheapest or fastest in every situation. Fees, exchange rates, delivery times and transfer limits can differ by provider and receiving option.

How long does a UAE to India money transfer take?

Delivery times vary by provider and receiving method. Some UPI and bank transfers may arrive within minutes, while others can take longer because of banking hours, recipient details or additional checks.

Cash pickup availability also depends on the selected location and its opening hours. Check the delivery estimate shown for your specific transfer before paying.

What should you check before sending?

Before completing the transfer, confirm:

  • The final amount the recipient will receive in INR
  • The available receiving method
  • The recipient details required
  • The estimated delivery time
  • Any transfer limits
  • The final fee and exchange rate
  • Whether a promotional rate is limited to new customers or selected transfers

You can also check the indicative AED to INR exchange rate for currency context before comparing the rates offered by individual providers.

Rates, fees and availability can change. The provider’s final quote is the amount that applies to the transfer.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to send money from UAE to India?

There is no single option that is best for every transfer. Compare the estimated recipient amount first, then check whether the provider supports the required receiving method and an acceptable delivery time. The most suitable option can change with the send amount, rate, fee and receiving method.

Can I send money from UAE to India using UPI?

Some providers allow transfers from the UAE to an eligible UPI ID in India. The recipient needs a valid UPI ID connected to an eligible Indian bank account. Check UPI availability and recipient requirements in the provider’s current transfer flow before sending.

Is UPI the same as a bank transfer?

Both methods normally credit an Indian bank account, but they use different recipient details. A regular bank transfer usually requires an account number and IFSC code. A UPI transfer uses the recipient’s UPI ID or VPA to identify the connected bank account.

What details do I need for a bank transfer to India?

You will commonly need the recipient’s full name, bank account number and IFSC code. The provider may also request the bank name, recipient contact details and purpose of the transfer. Check the exact requirements before starting the transfer.

Can my recipient collect the money in cash?

Some providers support cash pickup in India. The recipient will normally need valid identification and the transfer reference number. Confirm the nearest available location, opening hours and collection requirements before sending.

How are UAE to India money transfer providers ranked?

When you enter what you can spend, providers are ranked by the highest estimated recipient amount. When you enter what your recipient needs, providers are ranked by the lowest estimated total amount you may need to spend. Both estimates use the displayed exchange rate and fee.

Why can the INR amount differ from the provider’s final quote?

RemitNavigator’s results are estimates based on the displayed rate and fee. The provider’s final quote may change because of current rates, payment or receiving method, promotions, transfer limits or additional charges. Estimates are not guaranteed, so confirm the final INR amount before paying.

Can I compare money transfers from Dubai to India?

Yes. Dubai is part of the UAE, so you can use the UAE to India comparison above to compare available providers for transfers from Dubai.
